Waiting on Wednesday is sponsored by Jill at Breaking the Spine. It's a chance for bloggers to moan and groan about books that they have to wait for and that will hopefully live up to expectations.
This week, I just found out that the third book in Jennifer Donnelly's Rose trilogy will be published this August. If you haven't read The Tea Rose or The Winter Rose, and you're a fan of historical fiction with a fair dose of romance, then you'll love these books. They follow members of an Irish clan around the turn of the 19th century as they rise from the slums of Dublin to the heights of commercial and political success. Great reads.
Here's the description of The Wild Rose, courtesy of Goodreads:
The vast multi-generational epic that began with The Tea Rose and continued with The Winter Rose now reaches its dramatic conclusion in The Wild Rose.
Longdon, 1914. World War I is looming on the horizon, women are fighting for the right to vote, and global explorers are pushing the limits of endurance at the Poles and in the deserts. into this volatile time, Jennifer Donnelly places her vivid and memorable characters:
- Willa Alden, a passionate mountain climber who lost her leg while climbing Kilimanjaro with Seamus Finnegan, and who will never forgive him for saving her life.
- Seamus Finnegan, a polar explorer who tries to forget Willa as he marries a beautiful young woman back home in England.
- Max von Brandt, a handsome sophisticate who courts high society women, but who has a secret agenda as a German spy
How good does that sound? And how gorgeous is that cover? Can't wait to read this one! The Wild Rose will be published August 2, 2011.
